Research Assistant

Yuan Ching Yu is a Master of Science in Design candidate in Environmental Building Design at the University of Pennsylvania.

His work explores how architecture can enhance thermal comfort while minimizing environmental impact through passive heating and cooling strategies that integrate with environmental systems and natural heat sinks.

He is currently conducting research on outdoor thermal comfort, urban heat island mitigation, and the impacts of extreme urban heat on public health. His broader research focuses on developing integrated design strategies that strengthen resilience and thermal adaptation under future climate extremes.
